BLOGS: Day 10

Day 10- Friday 10th July 2009- St Moritz

Nicola Biltoft
We were woken up By Gavin at the daunting hour of 7 am, We had showers, packed bags and had breakfast by 8.00am. Everyone was dreading the bus trip before it even began. Strange smells drifted through the bus.

We were held up by a motorcycle accident, which made it worse. Finally fresh air when we stopped at a nice buffet for lunch. We had an hour to buy something and go to the toilet etc.

We travelled in a few tunnels and around the mountains until we stopped at the border. This took a little longer than expected but as soon as we went through it was an amazing sight. The snow capped mountains, rivers and greenery especially.

When we reached our accommodation we had free time till dinner. Most people wandered through the streets to the centre of town as far as they could. After dinner we had a mad table tennis game going. Mr Staines was a pro! He could play for Australia with his skill level, up until Kathy and I rose to the occasion giving him a bit of a challenge ha ha.
The internet was also a hit even though it wasn’t free.

Today we drove to St Moritz. It was boring and the bus smelled really bad. We stopped for lunch. I was with Kat C all day. When we arrived at St Moritz we put our luggage in our room. We were sharing a room with Emily And Ella. A few friends and I then walked u to the supermarket passing a beautiful lake and an amazing view of the mountains. We bought junk food then walked back to the Youth Hostel. After that we had dinner and then I went to my room with Kat, had a shower and went to sleep.

Jeremy The day started off at 7am, where we started to get ready to leave our accommodation- Hotel Pension Sonnenof Salzburg Austria.

Breakfast in Austria is very different from Australia, consisting of breads, hams, cheeses and rolls. We left around 8.30 am and started our 6 hr bus trip to St Moritz in Switzerland. The landscape in Austria is amazing, peaceful and everything is GREEN! During the 6 hr trip we passed farms, lots of crop fields and some lovely cottages, but the most defining feature of the landscape in Austria has to be the towering hills and mountains that surround the towns and villages through out the countryside.

At the border to Switzerland the views were breathtaking, words not being able to describe how wonderful they were. It took about 20 min to clear customs after which we were cleared to go through. From there it was an hour or so until we reached our accommodation at Junendhorberge, St Moritz. There was four to a room and a public bathroom. St Moritz is beautiful, sandwiched between the Swiss Alps. It makes this place seem more like a hidden treasure waiting to be found. The views are breathtaking, made up of the town, massive snow peaked mountains and the wonderful river that runs through the town. Everything seems so calm and peaceful here and with the fresh mountain air, with not a hint of pollution St Moritz is absolutely heavenly.

Teacher Highlight
As was said, absolutely heavenly drive.
